Georgetown Festival of the Arts 2011
  Brahms in Georgetown

Ellsworth Peterson, Artistic Director of the festival, is professor emeritus at Southwestern University, where he presented Brown Symposia on the music of Mahler, Britten, Shostakovich and Messiaen, and on the classical music of Thailand.

He has served as Artistic Director of the six previous Festivals of the Arts:

Handel in Georgetown (2005) ,
Haydn in Georgetown (2006),
Schubert in Georgetown (2007),
Mendelssohn in Georgetown (2008),
Dvořák in Georgetown (2009), and
Aaron Copland in Georgetown (2010).

We'd like to extend special thanks to the three individuals listed below (in alphabetical order) for their splendid work in helping plan and execute many of the myriad details that go into making our Festivals happen. Ben and Natalie have served this year as interns, while they were students at Southwestern University, and after Natalie's graduation. Paloma has become the semi-official artist of the Festival, having contributed her talent and skill to rendering the likeness of each Festival's composer for the past three years.

Ben Bracher is a junior at Southwestern University, majoring in Political Science and Music. He sings baritone in the SU Chorale and plays trombone in the SU Wind Ensemble. He is also a Resident Assistant, and a member of Delta Omicron, Southwestern's music service fraternity. He plans on going into a Ph.D. program in Political Science after graduating from Southwestern.
Paloma Mayorga, Paloma Mayorga is a 2010 Southwestern University graduate, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art. Since then, she has been working at the Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, and has been working as a free lance artist. Ms. Mayorga plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting in order to further her career as a professional artist.
Natalie Moore Natalie Phillips-Perkoff, will graduate from Southwestern University in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. While at Southwestern, Natalie was the Musical Events director for the Delta Nu Chapter of Delta Omicron, the national music fraternity, as well as the director of the third and fourth Annual Arts Festivals. This past year Natalie was one of three student organizers of the music festival Clusterfest. She has held internships with the Pollyanna Theatre Co. and the Long Center for the Performing Arts. In the summer of 2010 Natalie traveled to Arezzo, Italy with the Oberlin in Italy summer program performing chamber music and opera. Natalie was a member of the Southwestern String Quartet, the Southwestern University Orchestra, and during her senior year, acted as the Assistant Conductor of the SU Orchestra and Wind Ensemble as part of an independent study with Dr. Lois Ferrari. Natalie's long term goal is to continue her conducting studies in graduate school.
